HIST 3510 - The History of Childhood and Education

Reading Analysis’

During the 13 weeks in the HIST 3510 course I continued to read and analyze journal articles that were presented in the course outline. Each week had a particular topic that the articles fell under which included: understanding childhood in the 19th century, the rise of public education, children work and compulsory schooling, gendered expectations of youth and the feminization of teaching, racialized childhoods and segregated schooling, separate childhoods and Indigenous education, “healthy” children and “healthy” schools, growing up Canadian: citizenship lessons at school, and progressive education. With the weekly reading notes you can take a journey through the knowledge I gained throughout the duration of this course.
